The Oak Bay, Esquimalt, Saanich and Victoria Fire Departments participated in a 24hr relay around the Oak Bay High School track in full firefighting turnout gear. Groups of 1-3 firefighters donned full personal protective gear and breathing apparatus and started ‘Going ‘Round in Circles’ to help raise money for local children and youth organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
We were extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity to make a difference in countless lives by coming together as one cohesive group. With a unified goal set, we were able to raise over $10,000 that we were quickly able to turn around back into the community through KidSport of Greater Victoria, The Times Colonist Literacy Society and Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.
We all came together and showed that even through hard times, we have strength in numbers and we will always be there to serve our communities even beyond the normal work shift.
